Monthly Branch Wide Social, Potluck and Adventure Presentation
The Monthly Branch Wide Social, Potluck and Adventure Presentations are back! Come on down to the Olympia Center on the first Wednesday of the Month, September to May (excluding November), at 6:00 PM for a shared potluck and socializing hour, followed by an Outdoor Adventure Presentation at 7:00 PM. All members and anyone interested in learning more about the Mountaineers are welcome. This is a great opportunity to meet fellow Mountaineers, share ideas, learn about others escapades and adventures, and connect with our great community of outdoor enthusiasts.
Time? 6:00 PM Potluck & Socializing hour, 7:00 PM Adventure Presentation.
Where? The Olympia Center, 222 Columbia St. NW, rooms 101-102.
What should I bring? A dish to share, your own plate and flatware. No paper tossing at our potlucks!

Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012 - Branch Wide Social, Potluck and Adventure Speaker - Larry Cowan - Hiking Patagonia and Peru. Come share our recent travels in Patagonia and Peru featuring trekking with magnificent views of Mount Fitzroy, Cerro Torre, Torres de Paine and the back door to Machu Picchu. Hear about the hilarious winds of these remote lands and how to turn canceled flights and missed bus rides into a roaring good time! I must say the beer was better than any of us could hope for! Don’t ask how I know just come and enjoy our adventures in these raw and beautiful lands.

The Mountaineers offer many pins and patches for achieving goals-from hiking trails in the Olympics to climbing to the highest peaks in the state (and even more)! If you have never heard of what they are or never got around to checking out what is possible, then this short presentation is just what you need!

Jean Fisher-Biking Adventure Who would have guessed that cycling across England, would be such a challenge. It’s such a small country and relatively flat ........right!!! The pubs along the way were great the natives friendly including road traffic. Join me in a 'potted' 15 minutes presentation ride from one coast, and the Irish Sea to the other and the North Sea.

Wednesday, May. 2, 2012 - Karen Hook Paddle through time, kayaking the historic upper Missouri River. Paddle in the footsteps of Lewis and Clark. Watch sunsets from bluffs where bands of Native Americans have camped for generations. Marvel at the majestic scenery that Mother Nature took eons to create. Join us for a presentation of 2 trips down the Upper Missouri River from Fort Benton, Montana to Kipp Landing.

Wednesday, Sep. 5, 2012 - Susan Wertz & Guy Moyer-Bagging peaks in Greece and Outdoor Adventures in Turkey. Come with us as we climb the “other” Mt. Olympus, plus Mt. Zeus and Mt. Kythnos in Greece. Experience hiking and kayaking the ancient Lycian Way along the incredible turquoise coast of Turkey. More adventures include canyoneering, river tubing, camel riding, and hiking the travertine cliffs in Pamukkale and the Red Valley in Cappadocia.
